Resumen
La memoria de testigos abarca un conjunto de conocimientos e investigaciones basados en estudiar la memoria humana e intentar determinar la calidad de los testimonios sobre delitos que prestan los testigos presenciales. Los seres humanos a menudo describen los eventos que han observado como-si estas descripciones fuesen totalmente exactas y precisas. En cambio, en las últimas décadas se ha revelado que estos recuerdos son incorrectos. Estos errores son sistemáticos y probables de ocurrir. La investigación ha examinado distintos factores que influyen en la codificación y recuperación de los sucesos. Se han considerado ciertos problemas especiales en la memoria que afectan a la descripción de extraños y por tanto, que pueden perjudicar la exactitud de las identificaciones de testigos.
The memory of witnesses covers a set of knowledge and researches based on studying the human memory and try to determine the quality of testimony on crimes that provide eyewitnesses. Humans often describe the events they have observed as if these descriptions were totally accurate. In contrast, in recent decades it has been revealed that these memories are incorrect. These errors are systematic and likely to occur. The investigation has examined different factors that influence the codification and recovery of events. Certain special problems in memory have been considered that affect the description of strangers and therefore may impair the accuracy of the witness identifications.
