Grandes catástrofes en la historia de La Tierra: extinciones en masa

Abstract

[ES]En este trabajo se hablan de las grandes catástrofes ocurridas en la historia de la Tierra y se hace notar la importancia de las extinciones masivas en un contexto evolutivo, fenómenos de extinción del pasado, concretametne procesos naturales que actuaron con una intensidad más alta de lo normal, en cortos intervalos de tiempo, así como la importancia de las distintas escalas temproales y los cambios que se dan en la Naturaleza.Se ha llevado a cabo la descripción e interpretación de las extinciones masivas que más destacan en la historia de la Tierra, concretamente las que ocurrieron al final del Período Ordovívico, Devónico, Pérmico, Triásico, entre el Cretático y Terciario, y la actual extinción.

[EN]This is work of literature review on some of the major catastrophes in Earth's history. Its main objetivres are: underline the importance of mass extinctions in an evolutionary context; acquire the basic knowledge of extinction events of the past, specifically natural proccesses acting with a higher intensity than usual in short time spans, as well as gain an understanding of the importance of the different time scales and the changes that occur in Nature. A descripción of the most important mass extinctions in the Earth's history along with their probable causes has been carried out. Namely those occurred at the end of the Ordovician, Devonian, Permian and Triassic periods and that of the Creaceous/Tertiary (K/T) boundary, as well as the current extinction called the "sixth mass extinction".
