Felipe IV: Imágenes para un ceremonial Barroco

Abstract

[ES]En este trabajo analizaremos algunas obras del arte efímero creadas durante el reinado de Felipe IV. Además de estudiarlas desde el punto de vista histórico-artístico, profundizaremos en su carácter propagandístico, aproximándonos a los mensajes políticos, religiosos, que se transmitían con ellas. Para ello recurriremos al estudio de las relaciones impresas y realizaremos una recopilación de las imágenes conservadas. La investigación mostrará la complejidad, importancia y el poder que encierran estas obras, así como la variedad y calidad de los artistas que las realizaron. El estudio comprenderá los lugares más importantes bajo dominio español, en los que estas obras efímeras, jugaron un papel muy destacado. Se prestará una especial atención a las erigidas por la colonia española en Roma, ya que no sólo aprovecharon el valor simbólico de la ciudad, sino que también tuvieron muy presente su carácter de escaparate para todo el Orbe Católico.

[EN]This work is aimed at highlighting the short-lived work and its propagandistic use, which included encoded political messages to praise the royal ceremonies. More precisely, the research will focus on the baroque festivals held in the time of Philip IV of Spain, through a close approach to the Relaciones, detailed chronicles of the festivals which provide some of the few pictures of these works available nowadays. The study will show the complexity, scope and power these works gathered as well as the diversity and talent of the artists who made them. Finally, the research intends to give account of the geopolitical importance of these works which from Spain, would spread not only to all territories under domain of the House of Habsburg in the years of his reign, both within Europe and overseas, but also to cities such as Rome, clearly influenced by the spanish monarchy.
