[EN] The current project will explain the origin of the workers ' movement and the evolution over the years, when the first unions emerged, under what circumstances they did so, and all the problems they suffered. Likeawise, there will be a brief review of the unions in the Franco era until the arrival of the transition. With the advent of democracy and the promulgation of the 1978 Constitution, collective bargaining was established, in which trade unions would have an important role to play. It will then explain the concept of a Union and the relevance of these to defending the interests of workers. As well as the competencies it presents and its functions. Finally, the most representative trade unions in Spain will be treated, and with them the representativeness and affiliation. To finish with the conclusions about their main problems and their possible improvements.
