La enfermedad de Parkinson es una enfermedad neurodegenerativa de etiología desconocida, crónica, de deterioro progresivo y padecida en la actualidad por más de siete millones de personas en el mundo. Esta patología afecta al sistema extrapiramidal por el desgaste de las neuronas dopaminérgicas que causa síntomas motores y no motores. El objetivo principal del presente trabajo es analizar en profundidad las características principales de la enfermedad de Parkinson a través de una revisión bibliográfica. Además se ha realizado un estudio exhaustivo de la importancia del Trabajo Social en esta enfermedad, especialmente en el Protocolo de Trabajo Social en la enfermedad de Parkinson, haciendo referencia a su vez a la figura de la persona cuidadora que generalmente se ven implicados en momentos de estrés y angustia
Parkinson’s disease is a neurodegenerative disease of unknown etiology, chronic, of progressive deterioration and suffered today by more than seven million people in the world. This pathology affects the extrapyramidal system by the deterioration of dopaminergic neurons causing motor and non-motor symptoms. The main objective of this work is to analyze in depth the main characteristics of Parkinson’s disease through a bibliographic review. In addition, a comprehensive study of the importance of Social Work in this disease has been carried out, focusing on the Social Work Protocol in Parkinson's disease, referring in turn to the figure of the caregiver who are usually involved at times of stress and distress
