Resumen
[ES]Este trabajo trata las enfermedades mitocondriales como "vehículo" para enseñar genética, biotecnología y salud. Se pretende facilitar la asimilación de estos conceptos, cambiando los tópicos que suelen aparecer en los institutos, por una genética más simple y actualizada. El tema a tratar se inserta en una Unidad Didáctica dentro de la asignatura "ciencias para el mundo contemporáneo", de 1º de Bachillerato. Se propone que los alumnos vean la genética de una forma práctica, innovadora, aplicada y atractiva a través de temas de actualidad, las enfermedades mitocondriales. Al poseer un genoma mucho más simple, un alumno puede estudiar la genética por comparación entre el funcionamiento de la mitocondria y el funcionamiento del núcleo celular, mejorando así su comprensión de todos estos procesos. Además, el tema nos permite desarrollar conceptos relacionados con a salud, por lo que conseguimos una interrelación entre unidades de temario.
[EN]This paper deals with mitochondrial diseases as a "vehicle" to teach genetics, biotechnology and health. It is intended to facilitate the assimilation of these concepts by changing the topics that usually appear in high schools, for a simpler and updtated genetics. The theme will be inserted into a teaching unit within the subject "Science for the contemporary world" of 1st year of High School educational stage. It is proposed that the students see the genetics in a practical, innovative, attractive and applied way through topics, mitochondrial diseases. Possesing a much simpler genome, a student can study genetic comparing the operation of the mitochondria and the operation of the nucleus, thus enhacing their understanding of all theses processes. In addition, the issue allows us to develop concepts related to health, so we got a relation ship between units.
