INFLUENCIA DEL JUEGO EN EL DESARROLLO COGNITIVO INFANTIL

Abstract

El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo primordial examinar la relación existente entre el juego y el desarrollo cognitivo de niños y niñas. En su primera parte se ha llevado a cabo una revisión de las distintas teorías que han descrito la actividad lúdica y las funciones principales que satisface (desde la propuesta inicial de Herbert Spencer hasta las más recientes de Vygotsky o Piaget). En segundo lugar, se presentan algunos resultados de investigaciones recientes que parecen revelar la existencia de una relación positiva entre el juego de fantasía y el funcionamiento cognitivo e intelectual durante la etapa de educación infantil y primeros años de educación primaria. Finalmente, se muestra una propuesta didáctica denominada “Conocemos nuestro cerebro” destinada para el alumnado de educación infantil. La finalidad primordial de esta unidad didáctica reside en potenciar la capacidad memorística de niños y niñas por medio de actividades lúdicas.The main objective of this paper is to examine the relationship between play and children's cognitive development. In its first part, a review of the different theories that have described play activity and the main functions it satisfies (from the initial proposal of Herbert Spencer to the most recent ones of Vygotsky or Piaget) has been carried out. Secondly, some recent research results are presented that seem to reveal the existence of a positive relationship between fantasy play and cognitive and intellectual functioning during the infant and early elementary school years. Finally, a didactic proposal called "We know our brain" is shown, intended for early childhood education students. The main purpose of this didactic unit is to enhance the memory capacity of boys and girls through playful activities.
