Resumen
La figura del trabajador o trabajadora social dentro del ámbito penitenciario, es una pieza clave para el
cumplimiento de los objetivos de la institución privativa de libertad. Hace de nexo entre la persona privada
de libertad y el mundo exterior, ya que, una de las principales funciones del/de la profesional del Trabajo
Social penitenciario es luchar por impedir el desarraigo del/de la interno/a haciendo intermediación con la
familia y con la sociedad. Además de esta labor, desempeña otras muy importantes para la reinserción
socio-laboral de dicha población. Las cuales se exponen durante el presente documento. Observando y
analizando desde una perspectiva interseccional, este trabajo trata de comparar las funciones que son
asignadas a los/as profesionales del Trabajo Social dentro de los centros penitenciarios de diferentes partes
del mundo; en este caso, la investigación se ha llevado a cabo en España y en Ecuador
The figure of the social worker within the penitentiary environment is a key element for the fulfilment of the objectives of the institution deprived of liberty. They act as a link between the person deprived of liberty and the outside world, since one of the main functions of the prison social worker is to fight to prevent the uprooting of the inmate by mediating with the family and society. In addition to this work, they also carry out other very important tasks for the socio-labour reintegration of this population. These are explained in this document. Observing and analysing from an intersectional perspective, this work tries to compare the functions assigned to Social Work professionals in prisons in different parts of the world; in this case, the research has been carried out in Spain and Ecuador
