Aproximación al Auxilio Social en el franquismo

Abstract

Tras la Guerra Civil la sociedad española quedó desolada, el hambre y la pobreza asolaron todo el país. Muchas personas tuvieron que acudir al estraperlo, prostitución o mendicidad para salir hacia delante. El Estado se sirvió de la asistencia social en forma de comedores sociales y hogares maternales entre otros, en los que las mujeres ocuparon un papel central. Las labores que realizó la Delegación Nacional de Auxilio Social en este contexto fueron de suma importancia, convirtiéndose en la favorita del régimen franquista, aunque existieron otras como Sección Femenina y Acción Católica. La propaganda de las obras de beneficencia que se desarrollaban fue esencial para ganar adhesiones al partido. La iglesia católica se hizo con el poder y no hubo espacio donde no estuviera presente. En los años cincuenta la situación comenzó a recuperarse, gracias a la ayuda internacional de países como EEUU y otros acontecimientos.

After the Civil War Spanish society was devastated, hunger and poverty ravaged the entire country. Many people had to go to the black market, prostitution or begging to go forward. The State used social assistance in the form of soup kitchens and maternity homes, in which women played a central role. The work carried out by the National Delegation of Social Assistance in this context was extremely important, becoming the favorite of the Franco regime, although there were others such as the Feminine Section and Catholic Action. The propaganda of the charity works that were developed was essential to gain party accessions. The Catholic Church took power and there was no space where it was not present.
