Estudio histórico-artístico de la iglesia parroquial de la Encarnación de Arjonilla

Abstract

[ES]En este trabajo tratamos de realizar un estudio histórico-artístico de la iglesia parroquial de la Encarnación de Arjonilla, así como de la evolución urbana de la población en torno a la nueva iglesia. Por un lado analizamos la arquitectura del templo y por otro las diferentes ampliaciones o reformas que se llevaron a cabo desde el s. XVI hasta la actualidad, señalando los elementos muebles desaparecidos de los que tenemos conocimiento hasta la fecha. La iglesia, surgida a comienzos del siglo XVI es de notable factura y considerable tamaño, algo que sorprende, pues en aquel entonces “el lugar de Arjonilla” dependía de Arjona y, casualidad o no, que será casi con la finalización de las obras de la iglesia cuando Arjonilla consiga en 1553 la independencia jurisdiccional. Además, durante la construcción y adquisición de moblaje de la iglesia, encontramos la intervención de grandes artistas a lo largo de los siglos, así como obras de gran calidad.

[EN]In this essay, we deal with realising a historic-artistic report on the parish church from Arjonilla, just like the urban evolution of the population around the new church. On the one hand, we analyse the temple’s architecture; on the other hand, the different extensions and alterations which were carried out from the sixteenth century up to now, pointing the disappeared furniture elements out from which we are fully aware of till nowadays. The church, risen up at the beginning og the sixteenth century, is significantly high and size, something astonishing, so, in those days, “The place of Arjonilla” depended on Arjona and, by chance or not, will be the end of the constructions of the Church when Arjonilla get in 1553 the jurisdictional Independence.
