Biocides are chemical microbial agents that contain one or more active substances or organisms, whose aim is to destroy, neutralize and prevent the action of microorganisms and thus exert a control on the spread of infectious diseases. The resistance to these treatments arises with the misuse of these agents and their excessive use. The microorganisms develop mechanisms of resistance to ensure their survival. In this report, we determined the susceptibility to antibiotics and biocides in Escherichia co/i strains isolated from surfaces of a slaughterhouse. The results obtained determined a higher resistance to biocides than to antibiotics.
