Preocupación humana por el bienestar animal

Abstract

La finalidad de este trabajo ha sido la comparación de los perfiles psicosociales en personas voluntarias activas en asociaciones protectoras de animales y a quienes no desarrollan esta práctica. En este sentido, se han analizado las posibles diferencias que pueden surgir respecto al grado de empatía, actitud hacia el bienestar animal, vínculo con la mascota y funciones del voluntariado. Para ello, se ha dispuesto de una batería de cuestionarios que se ha hecho llegar digitalmente a diferentes asociaciones de animales, obteniendo una muestra de 226 participantes (130 voluntarios activos). Así mismo, se ha llevado a cabo un estudio exploratorio de las características o perfil de estos individuos. Mediante el análisis de los cuestionarios, se ha conseguido detectar que existen diferencias significativas respecto a la actitud hacia el bienestar animal y funciones del voluntariado entre quienes son voluntarios y no lo son. Mientras que, no se han encontrado tales diferencias en el grado de empatía y vínculo con la mascota. Las conclusiones obtenidas de gran valor y repercusión en este ámbito justifican la oportunidad y el desarrollo de este TFG debido a la escasa investigación existente al respecto, y el considerable crecimiento en importancia de estas asociaciones y el voluntariado.

This work is aimed at looking into the psychosocial profile of active voluntary people enrolled in animal protection associations, and those who aren't in order to compare them. In this sense, the degree of empathy, the attitude towards animal welfare, the emotional link to a mascot and the volunteer roles were analysed to draw any conclusion. A custom digital questionnaire has been sent to various stakeholders of animal protection associations. Thus, 226 individuals involved provided the necessary data. Likewise, an exploratory research to establish the characteristics and the profile of these individuals were carried out. After analysing the questionnaires, major differences were identified in the attitude towards animal welfare and the volunteer roles between the two groups studied. Whereas at the degree of empathy and the emotional link to the mascot, no significant differences were observed. Thus, the obtained results and conclusions have proven the importance of this work. These studies are justified because of the lack of research in this field and the recent highlighted growth of this kind of animal protection associations and volunteerism.
