Resumen
El presente Trabajo Final de Máster se centra en la realización de un proyecto de intervención basado en la implementación de terapias
medioambientales, específicamente dirigido a personas mayores que residen un centro residencial. Por lo que el objetivo general será identificar los
beneficios que las terapias medioambientales pueden aportar a las personas mayores, con el propósito de fomentar su envejecimiento activo y, en
consecuencia, mejorar su calidad de vida.
La etapa de la tercera edad se considera un período vital de especial fragilidad debido a las transformaciones asociadas al envejecimiento,
que tienen repercusiones significativas a nivel individual, familiar, social y comunitario. Estas circunstancias, junto con las crecientes necesidades de
las personas mayores, impulsan la creación de nuevos enfoques participativos en el ámbito de los centros de cuidados residenciales
En el desarrollo de este trabajo se analizará primeramente qué son las terapias medioambientales y los beneficios que aportan. En segundo
lugar, se analizarán ejemplos de jardines terapéuticos que ya están implementados o que se planean establecer en centros residenciales y entornos
públicos. Se prestará especial atención al papel del trabajador social gerontológico, explorando su modo de intervención a nivel individual como grupal
en este contexto, sus funciones y su enfoque metodológico. Finalmente, se desarrollará un proyecto de intervención que relacionará los conceptos
previamente abordados.
The present Master’s Final Project focuses on the execution of an intervention project based on the implementation of environmental therapies, specifically aimed at elderly individuals residing in a residential care facility. Therefore, the general objective Will be to identify the benefits that environmental therapies can provide to elderly individuals, with the aim of promoting their aging and, consequently, impoving their quality of life. The elderly stage is considered a life perior of particular fragility due to the transformations associated with aging, which have significant repercussions at the individual, family, social, and comnunity levels. These circumstances, along with the increasing needs of the elderly, drive the creation of new participatory approaches in the context of residential care centers. In the development of this work, we Will first analyze what environmental therapies are and the benefits the bring. Secondly, we Will examine examples of therapeutic gardens that are already implemented or planned to be established in residential centers and public settings. Special attention will be given to the role of the gerontological social worker, exploring their mode of intervention at both individual and group levels in this context, their functions, and their methodological approach. Finally, an intervention Project Will be developed that Will relate the previously addressed concepts.
