Resumen
[ES] El estudio de la IE en pacientes oncológicos ha aumentado considerablemente. Este estudio tiene como objetivo, desarrollar una revisión bibliográfica que analice la evidencia acerca de la influencia de la IE sobre la salud mental y la calidad de vida en pacientes con cáncer. Se revisó los estudios publicados sobre la asociación entre la IE y otras variables psicoemocionales en pacientes oncológicos. Se llevaron a cabo búsquedas bibliográficas en ocho bases de datos, y de 3.306 estudios relacionados, finalmente se incluyeron 15. Todos ellos, evidenciaron que la IE potencia el bienestar psicológico, emocional y físico de los enfermos oncológicos, asociándose con el significado vital y la satisfacción con la vida. Igualmente, la IE disminuye los niveles de estrés, ansiedad y depresión, y mejora la adaptación social durante la enfermedad. En conclusión, la IE contribuye significativa y positivamente a mejorar la salud mental y la CVRS de pacientes diagnosticados de cáncer.
[EN] The study of EI in cancer patients has increased considerably. The objective of this study is to develop a bibliographic review that analyzes the evidence about the influence of EI on mental health and quality of life in cancer patients. The published studies on the association between EI and other psycho-emotional variables in cancer patients were reviewed. Bibliographic searches were carried out in eight databases, and of 3,306 related studies, 15 were finally included. All of them showed that EI enhances the psychological, emotional and physical well-being of cancer patients, being associated with the vital meaning and the Satisfaction with life. Likewise, EI reduces levels of stress, anxiety and depression, and improves social adaptation during illness. In conclusion, EI contributes significantly and positively to improving the mental health and HRQOL of patients diagnosed with cancer.
