La relación de la clase social con variables ideológicas y las actitudes hacia la redistribución de recursos

Abstract

La pertenencia a una u otra clase social puede determinar ciertos aspectos de nuestra vida o condicionar nuestras actitudes o creencias. A través de un estudio empírico hemos obtenido datos sobre la relación existente entre diferentes indicadores socioeconómicos, variables ideológicas (i.e., dominancia social y justificación del sistema) y la actitud hacia la distribución de recursos en la sociedad. Se observa que mayores niveles de ingresos y de nivel educativo son indicativos de una mayor clase social subjetiva. Asimismo, también encontramos que los/as participantes que pertenecen a una clase social más alta (vs. baja) están más inclinados a creer que unos grupos deben estar por encima de otros y a justificar el sistema económico. Además, dichas creencias se relacionaron con una percepción de mayor justicia en el reparto existente de los recursos y con actitudes más desfavorables a la distribución de recursos en España

Belonging to one or another social class can determine certain aspects of our lives or condition our attitudes or beliefs. Through an empirical study we have obtained data on the relationship between different socioeconomic indicators, ideological variables (i.e., social dominance and justification of the system) and the attitude towards the distribution of resources in society. It is observed that higher levels of income and educational level are indicative of a higher subjective social class. Likewise, we also found that participants belonging to a higher (vs. lower) social class are more inclined to believe that some groups should be above others and to justify the economic system. In addition, these beliefs were related to a perception of greater justice in the existing distribution of resources and to more unfavorable attitudes towards the distribution of resources in Spain
