Resumen
La inteligencia emocional a día de hoy es un concepto que ha adquirido una gran relevancia, sobre todo en el ámbito escolar. Cada vez más se están desarrollando programas encaminados a hacer de los alumnos personas emocionalmente competentes. Estos programas les permiten aprender, desde edades tempranas, el conocimiento de las emociones y como éstas les afectan a ellos mismos y a los demás. En el presente trabajo, se trata el concepto de inteligencia emocional, analizado, por un lado, cómo ha ido cambiando dicho concepto a través del tiempo, las diversas definiciones propuestas por diferentes autores y algunos modelos teóricos más relevantes relacionados con la inteligencia emocional. Asimismo, se refleja la importancia de la inteligencia emocional en los alumnos y se presentan distintos programas de inteligencia emocional, exponiendo los objetivos que se persiguen y los beneficios que se pueden obtener.
Nowadays Emotional Intelligence is a concept that has acquired great relevance, especially in schools. It is increasing the number of programs with the goal of making students become competent in an emotional aspect. These programs allow them to learn from an early age the concept of emotions and how they can affect to themselves and others. In this dissertation, it will be analyzed the concept of emotional intelligence, how it has evolved over time, the various definitions proposed by different authors and some relevant theoretical models related to emotional intelligence. In addition, this work will reflect the importance of promoting emotional intelligence in students and it introduces different emotional intelligence programs with their respective aims pursued and the benefits that could be obtained from them.
