Estrés y parentalidad en padres de niños con Síndrome de Down

Resumen
El objetivo de la presente investigación es evaluar el estrés en padres de niños con Síndrome de Down en comparación con padres de niños con Desarrollo Típico, por medio del cuestionario PSI – SF (Parenting Stress Index – Short Form) junto con otros factores que pueden afectar al estrés, como son la depresión, la autoestima, la resiliencia, el control parental, la competencia parental, los rasgos psicopatológicos e impacto en la familia sobre el hijo con discapacidad. Han participado un total de 56 participantes, más de la mitad padres de hijos con Desarrollo Típico. Los resultados indicaron que el estrés en padres SD era significativamente mayor en la escala de “interacción disfuncional padre-hijo” pero no en las demás escalas. Los demás cuestionarios, se mostraron resultados representativos en algunas subescalas, incidiendo en los resultados más escasos en padres de hijos con Síndrome de Down de manera leve.
The objective of this research is to evaluate Stress in Parents of Children with Down´s Syndrome compared with parents of children with typical development, through the questionnaire PSI - SF (Stress Index Parents - Short Form) with other factors that may affect stress, like depression, self-esteem, resilience, parental control, parental competition, psychopathological traits and Impact on the Family on the disabled child. They have participated in aid totaling 56 participants, more than half of parents of children with typical development. The results indicated that stress in the SD parents was significantly higher on the scale of "dysfunctional interaction father son" but not on other scales. The other questionnaires showed some representative results in theirs subscales, focusing on the little results on parents of children with Down´s Syndrome slightly.
