[ES]El fracaso escolar y el abandono educativo temprano son dos fenómenos actuales y de gran repercusión social en todos los países de la Unión Europea, situándose España con una de las cifras más elevadas. Estos problemas emanan de factores personales del alumnado, familiares y relacionados con el sistema educativo, señalando las dificultades afectivas del alumnado como uno de los factores más significativos. La finalidad de esta propuesta es hacer una breve reflexión sobre la importancia de la Educación Emocional en las aulas de Educación Secundaria, puesto que el desarrollo de sus competencias aporta numerosos beneficios en el desarrollo emocional y social del alumnado, asociándose sus limitaciones a un bajo rendimiento académico, a problemas afectivos y conductuales, de adaptación e integración social, de convivencia y clima escolar, así como, a procesos de fracaso y riesgo de abandono educativo, entre otras.
[EN]Currently there are two phenomena problems with a high social repercussion in all the countries of the European Union: School Failure and early educational dropout where Spain has the ranking of it. These issues come from personal factors of the students, family and related to the educational system pointing out the affective difficulties of the students as one of the most important factors. The purpose of this proposal is to make a brief reflection regarding of the importance of Emotional Education in Secondary Education classrooms, since the development of their competences brings numerous benefits in the emotional and social development of the students their limitations being associated with low academic performance, affective and behavioral problems, adaptation and social integration, coexistence and school climate, as well as, failure processes and risk of educational dropout, among others
