A pesar
a largo plazo.
[EN] Currently a dietary strategy called intermittent fasting (IF) is emerging in society, which refers to an eating pattern where periods of fasting alternate with periods of normal caloric intake. The term IF encompasses various modalities of dietary regimes, among which time-restricted fasting (TFR) is the most common. There are several studies which affirm that this way of feeding can have beneficial effects on health. Some of the effects that have been observed are the loss of weight and body fat, decrease in glucose and insulin levels, reduction of insulin resistance, reduction of inflammation and oxidative stress markers. Together and improvement in risk factors for the development of cardiovascular diseases (CVD). All observation has recently awakened in the population a great interest in this eating pattern. Despite the possible benefits associated with this dietary strategy, IF can lead to adverse effects that must be taken into account, such as short-term hypoglycemia and long-term protein malnutrition. The aim of this work is to show the changes that happen in our body when this type of diet is carried out, including the possible beneficial effects associated with this dietary strategy as well as the adverse effects that may occur.
