Communication Strategies used by CSE Year 2 students in Spain

Abstract

[ES] Las estrategias de comunicación son usadas por los estudiantes cuando se comunican en inglés. En este trabajo de investigación se tratará de analizar la clasificación de estrategias de comunicación diseñada por Faerch and Kasper (1983) y se estudiará si ciertas variables como el sexo, la actitud hacia el inglés, las calificaciones en la asignatura, el nivel de exposición al idioma y el nivel sociocultural de los alumnos influyen en el uso consciente o inconsciente de estas estrategias de comunicación.

[EN] Communication Strategies are usually used by students when trying to convey meaning in English. In this research project the focus of analysis will be the classification of Communication Strategies designed by Faerch and Kasper (1983) and there will be a study and reflection on whether different variables like gender, attitude towards the English language, the level of proficiency of students, the exposure to the language and the sociocultural status of students affect the choice, whether it is conscious or unconscious, of specific Communication Strategies.
