PÉPTIDOS OPIÁCEOS EN LA RESPUESTA AL ESTRÉS.

Abstract

Cualquier situación de estrés, provocada tanto por estímulos internos como externos, supone una amenaza para el organismo por lo que éste genera una alerta global que intenta mantener su equilibrio interno. La respuesta es global e inespecífica, incluyendo a múltiples sistemas en un intento de aumentar las posibilidades de supervivencia del organismo. Los péptidos opiáceos endógenos participan de manera esencial en dicha respuesta. Su función no sólo va encaminada hacia su efecto analgésico sino que, dado su carácter neurotransmisor u hormonal, presentan múltiples funciones que participan tanto en la modulación de procesos cognitivos como en diversas respuestas tisulares periféricas y emocionales. El objetivo principal de este trabajo se centra en analizar el comportamiento que tienen estos péptidos en la respuesta al estrés, para finalmente sugerir las posibilidades futuras de su conocimiento.

Any stress situation, caused by both internal and external stimuli, poses a threat to the organism and therefore generates a global alert that tries to maintain its internal balance. The response is global and nonspecific, including multiple systems in an attempt to increase the organism's chances of survival. Endogenous opioid peptides play an essential role in this response. Their function is not only addressed towards their analgesic effect but, given its neurotransmitter or hormonal character, they have multiple functions that participate both in the modulation of cognitive processes and in various peripheral tissue and emotional responses. The main objective of this work is focused on analyzing the behavior of these peptides in the stress response, to finally suggest the future possibilities of their knowledge.
