[ES] Este trabajo trata sobre la sucesión de empresas familiares. Primero estudiaremos las principales características de estas empresas, como la cultura tipos y debilidades. La principal debilidad es la sucesión ya que muchas empresas no pasan a la segunda generación. La empresa (Paco Gutierrez S.L.) es analizada para ver como gestionan el proceso de sucesión
[EN] This study is focused on the succession in family firms. First we study the most important characteristics of this type of company, such as culture, types of family businesses and their weaknesses. The most important family company weakness is succession because many family businesses do not survive the second generation and this problem is very important because over 80% of the companies in our country are family businesses. The most important points of the succession are studied and the three-dimensional model of Gersick is explained. This work also discusses the family constitution, which is a set of rules governing family-business relations. The family firm, “Paco Gutiérrez Aperitivos S. L.” is analyzed in order to find out how is managing the succession process in it, and also on the evolution of the three dimension of any family firm: family, ownership and business. We finish with some conclusions and recommendations are given to improve the succession process of the firm. 47
