The aim of this Master's thesis is to evaluate the effect of dog-assisted therapy on social skills in the prison context. To this end, an experimental design was carried out in the Brians II penitentiary institution in Martorell, Barcelona. The sample consisted of a total of five men aged between 28 and 40, divided into a control group and an experimental group. The duration of the experimental study was three months. To measure the impact of the animal-assisted therapy, the TECA scale (Test of Cognitive and Affective Empathy) and the Barratt impulsivity test were used before and after the intervention. The analysis of the results showed statistically significant data, as well as important aspects to consider for future research. The sample size stands out as an important limitation to be taken into account.
