[EN]In this final paper, belonging to the master's degree, the network layer of the TCP/IP model is developed. Within the network layer, aspects related to addressing, variable length masks, transition mechanisms from IPv4 (Internet Protocol version 4) to IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) and the control protocols ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol) and IGMP (Internet Group Message Protocol) are detailed. To address these issues, first an epistemological study structured on background, current status and future trends of the above technologies will be carried out. In the second part a didactic unit belonging to the module of Planning and Administration of Networks, of the cycle Administration of Computer Systems in Network, will be developed. The objective is to integrate the development of the subject treated, the network layer, in a didactic unit in order to be able to teach it according to the current curriculum and contextualized to a specific educational center.
