LITERATURE AS A DIDACTIC RESOURCE FOR ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING IN SECONDARY EDUCATION: A TEACHING PROJECT BASED ON FRANKENSTEIN

Abstract

Este trabajo tiene como objetivo señalar que la utilización de la literatura es un importante recurso a la hora de enseñar inglés. Se hará una revisión acerca de la postura que adoptan diferentes figuras literarias de autoridad con respecto al uso de textos literarios en clase de lengua inglesa. Después, se presentarán las ventajas del empleo de la literatura en la clase de inglés y más tarde, se expondrán las conclusiones sobre su utilización, así como también se mostrará una unidad didáctica diseñada para promover la literatura en la clase de inglés en secundariaThis paper aims to pinpoint the relevant use of literature as a resource for language teaching. The first target will be to make a little revision about the main authors’ position with regard to the use or the avoidance of literature in the ESL class. Then, the aim will be to discuss more recent opinions in favour of its usage. Afterwards, the advantages of the presence of literature will be presented and finally, personal and authority conclusions supporting literary text in EFL will be drawn. Lastly, a lesson plan design concerning literature is displayed.
