HOW TO IMPLEMENT BILINGUAL METHODOLOGIES IN PRIMARY EDUCATION IN ORDER TO FOSTER STUDENTS´ MOTIVATION

Abstract

[ES]Esta investigación tiene como objetivo principal estudiar los resultados obtenidos por medio de la implementación de ciertas metodologías a la hora de abordar la educación bilingüe y programas relacionados con CLIL en una clase de Educación Primaria. Para conseguir este objetivo, después de un amplio proceso de revisión bibliográfica, se ha diseñado una Unidad Didáctica basada en la serie de principios metodológicos que hemos encontrado más útiles e interesantes en función a la búsqueda de información realizada previamente con respecto a este tema. Dicha Unidad Didáctica ha sido diseñada e implementada a lo largo de un mes en una clase de tercer curso de Educación Primaria y está basada en contenidos de ciencias. En relación a lo anterior, hemos recogido datos que provienen del proceso de puesta en práctica de esta Unidad para llevar a cabo un estudio transversal en torno a qué tipo de metodologías, actividades, materiales y roles de alumnos y profesores funcionan mejor en la realidad del aula, especialmente en relación a mejorar la motivación hacia el proceso de aprendizaje. Para conseguir este fin, hemos analizado los resultados obtenidos tanto de una manera cuantitativa como cualitativa y hemos obtenido claras conclusiones en cuanto como abordar los programas bilingües.

[EN]This research aims at carrying out an investigation regarding the different results obtained by means of the implementation of certain methodologies concerning bilingual education and CLIL within a Primary Education classroom. In arder to do so, after a process of literature review, we have designed a Teaching Unit following the principies we have found more useful and interesting in connection to the previous research when it comes to implementing this kind of programs. This Didactic Unit has been designed and implemented throughout one month for the third grade of Primary Education and it is based on science contents. With regards to the above, we have collected data from the implementation process of this unit in arder to carry out a cross-sectional study into what kinds of methodologies, activities, students and teachers' roles work well in the classroom, especially in relation to the increase of the student's intrinsic motivation. To this end, we have analyzed these results, both in a quantitative and qualitative way, in arder to draw sorne conclusions regarding bilingual education.
