The present Final Degree Project is focused on the investigation of measures to improve the energy efficiency of buildings in which concrete is used for architectural purposes. In order to that is, in the execution of their lateral enclosures, floors and roofs. carry out this study, different concrete specimenscomposed mainly of lightweight aggregates were made and their physical, mechanical and, especially, thermal properties were studied. With the properties obtained, a comparative thermal study was carried out between a conventional concrete and the lightweight concrete under study, in an existing building. The results show that, by using this type of lightweight concrete in construction, energy savings are considerable and electricity consumption is reduced, since there is a significant improvement in thermal insulation compared to other concretes. The economic study shows that heating and cooling costs are higher if we use a concrete other than lightweight concrete.
