Innovación didáctica con cartografía digital para la enseñanza de geografía. Una propuesta con google earth

Abstract

Este trabajo analiza el estado actual de la enseñanza de la geografía en secundaria y se cuestiona si se adapta adecuadamente a los retos que le plantean las nuevas tecnologías, el estado del mundo actual, y su propio enfoque didáctico en nuestro país. Para afrontar estos retos, este trabajo propone un mayor peso de la cartografía en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje de la geografía, para, gracias a un acercamiento visual e integral a los fenómenos, alcanzar un aprendizaje significativo, con un papel activo de alumno que permita ganar en destrezas espaciales, capacidad de síntesis, comprensión del territorio, motivación, y concienciación ambiental. Para llevar a cabo lo anterior, defiende la inclusión en el aula de geografía de la cartografía digital, en concreto, con el programa Google Earth. Con ello se busca una aproximación integral al territorio y desde un pu nto de vista dinámico, que permita diferentes escalas y perspectivas para un óptimo estudio de los fenómenos, yendo por tanto más allá del papel habitual de la cartografía en esta asignatura, ya que permite además la elaboración e intercambio digital de materiales de aprendizaje y actividades, generando por tanto una muy positiva sinergia en la comunidad educativa.

This paper analyzes the current state of the teaching of geography in secondary and questions if properly adapted to the challenges facing new technologies, the state of current world, and their own approach to teaching in our country. To meet these challenges, this paper proposes a greater importance of cartography in the process of teaching and learning geography, to achieve meaningful learning through a visual and comprehensive approach to phenomena, with an active role of student that allows earning in spatial skills, synthesis, understanding territory, motivation, and environmental awareness. To accomplish this, it supports the inclusion in the geography classroom of digital mapping, particularly with the Google Earth program. It seeks a comprehensive approach to territory and from a dynamic point of view, allowing different scales and perspectives for optimal study of phenomena, thus going beyond the usual role of cartography in this subject, and also allows the development and sharing of digital learning materials and activities, generating a positive synergy in the education community.
