Comportamiento territorial de Vanessa atalanta

Abstract

[ES] En este trabajo se estudió el comportamiento territorial, ciclo de vida y migración de Vanessa atalanta en el Zoobotánico de Jerez durante febrero, marzo y mayo del año 2017. Se pretendió ver el efecto de la temperatura y su migración sobre dicho comportamiento y en qué meses esta especie es residente del lugar donde se ha realizado el estudio. También se hizo un seguimiento de las distintas etapas de su ciclo biológico donde se determinaron aspectos de su morfología durante su fase larvaria y una duración aproximada de su fase como crisálida. La temperatura resultó ser influyente a la hora de que un macho escogiera una zona del territorio para defenderla aunque no se encontró una relación entre ésta y la calidad de los territorios defendidos. Además, se vio un efecto de la migración sobre la abundancia y residencia de los individuos en el zoobotánico.

[EN] In this paper the territorial behavior and the life cycle and migration of Vanessa atalanta in the “Zoobotánico de Jerez” during February, March and May of 2017 were studied. The aims of the study was to find the effect of temperature and its migration on the behavior and in what months this species is resident of the place where the study was carried out. It was also monitored the different stages of its biological cycle where it was determined the morphology of its larval phase and the duration of its chrysalis phase. The temperature turned out to be influential when a male chose an area of the territory to defend although a relation between this and the quality of the defended territories was not found. In addition, there was an effect of migration on the abundance and residence of individuals in the zoobotanic.
