(EN) The representation that has been made of mental illness in the audiovisual media over time has had an unfavorable effect on how mental illnesses are currently perceived. By showing those who suffer from them as subjects to be mocked as in comedies, or, on the contrary, as aggressive and dangerous individuals in horror films. This vision of mental illness is one of the factors that maintains the stigmatization of those who suffer from it, those close to them, and psychologists and psychiatrists. But if the misrepresentations that have been made can cause stigmatization, a realistic representation could eliminate those stereotypes. Throughout the following document, the relationship between the stigmatization of mental health and the representation of these in the audiovisual media is shown, and how these, specifically animation, can be used to eliminate stigmas.
