El rol de la familia en el cuidado a las personas mayores. Un análisis comparativa Siria y España

Abstract

Exponemos como las personas mayores reciben atención en dos sociedades diferentes, en la siria de una forma más tradicional y más innovadora en el caso de la española. Partimos de que la familia es una institución esencial, que ayuda a construir la personalidad de cada individuo y a establecer una sociedad estructurada e integrada.La familia es la que vela por el cuidado de sus miembros y les brinda seguridad, protección y estabilidad y de esa forma también a la sociedad en su conjunto, esto justifica la necesidad de considerar a la familia como una “unidad de cuidado”.En esta exposición no pretendemos hacer una revisión profunda del tema, sino más bien pensamos que es necesario enfatizar el papel primordial de la familia en el cuidado de las y los mayores y señalar la importancia de seguir realizando investigaciones sobre el alcance que tiene el compromiso de las familias

We show how the elderly are cared for in two different societies, in the Syrian society in a more traditional way and in the Spanish society in a more innovative way. We start from the assumption that the family is an essential institution, which helps to build the personality of each individual and to establish a structured and integrated society; the family is the one that takes care of its members and provides them with security, protection and stability and thus also society as a whole, which justifies the need to consider the family as a "care unit". In this presentation we do not intend to make an in-depth review of the topic, but rather we think that it is necessary to emphasise the primary role of the family in the care of the elderly and to point out the importance of further research on the extent of the family's involvement.
