Resumen
[ES]El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo presentar una visión general de los pronombres de tratamiento en lengua inglesa, de forma tanto diacrónica, al estudiar su evolución a lo largo de la historia del idioma, como sincrónicamente, a través de las diferentes variedades del inglés. Además, con el objetivo de poder hacer afirmaciones más sólidas, se ofrecen una serie de pinceladas sobre uso de los pronombres personales de tratamiento en otras lenguas en Europa y en el resto del mundo. Finalmente, nuestra investigación práctica complementa y verifica la teoría expuesta a través de cuatro corpus diferentes que nos ayudarán a discernir el pasado y el presente de los pronombres de tratamiento en inglés, con especial atención a nuevas formas emergentes.
[EN]The present project aims at providing an account of the use of pronouns of address in the English language both diachronically, studying their evoultion throughout the history of the language, and synchronically, tapping into the different varieties of English. Futhermore, in order to make sounder statements, an insight into the use of personal prouns in other languages in Europe and beyond is also offered. Finally, our research study focuses on the actual subsnatiation of the theory by means of four different and complementary corpora that help shed light on the past and present of pronouns of address in English, with special attention to new emerging forms.
