Principales obstáculos y facilitadores de la profesión docente: un estudio piloto

Abstract

Actualmente, la docencia es considerada como una profesión de alta responsabilidad social y alto riesgo, ya que los profesores están expuestos a unos niveles de estrés considerables debido a múltiples factores. Ante este panorama, que los docentes cuenten con un nivel alto de inteligencia emocional podría considerarse necesario, ya que ésta amortigua los efectos negativos del estrés, y facilita el rendimiento y bienestar de estos profesionales. Esta investigación es un estudio piloto que tiene como objetivo identificar, por un lado, las principales situaciones que generan estrés en los docentes, y por otro, las que favorecen su bienestar y rendimiento. Para ello, 51 profesores de secundaria realizaron un video-test de doce escenas diferentes que representaban situaciones propias de su trabajo. Los resultados indican que las escenas que forman parte de la prueba son bastante representativas de la labor docente, si bien en algunos casos no existe una alta fiabilidad inter-jueces en la identificación de dichas situaciones.

Today, teaching is considered a profession with high social responsibility and high risk, as teachers are exposed to considerable levels of stress due to multiple factors. Against this background, a high level of emotional intelligence among teachers could be considered necessary, since it cushions the negative effects of stress, and facilitates the performance and well-being of these professionals. This research is a pilot study that aims to identify, on the one hand, the main situations that generate stress in teachers, and on the other, those that favour their well-being and performance. To this end, 51 secondary school teachers carried out a video-test of twelve different scenes representing situations typical of their work. The results indicate that the scenes that are part of the test are quite representative of the teachers' work, although in some cases there is not a high inter-judge reliability in the identification of such situations.
