[EN] Objective: to analyze the effectiveness of proprioceptive exercises in the prevention of ankle sprains. Methodology: a systematic review was conducted in the databases of PubMed, PEDro, CINAHL, and Scopus. There were selected clinical trials that analyzed the effectiveness of propioceptive exercise programs in relation to other treatments for the prevention of ankle sprain or the decreasing of relapses. Results: eight studies showed a positive effect of proprioceptive exercise on the incidence or the recurrence of sprains, where the number of events in the intervention group, when compared to the control group, was lower. Only one article showing better results in the control group was found. Conclusion: most of the reviewed papers suggest that proprioceptive training program is an important factor in the prevention of ankle sprains.
