This end of degree project focuses on the clones of Never Let Me Go (2005) by Kazuo Ishiguro. To deal with different themes of the novel, this work is going to be divided into different parts. Firstly, the different subgenres of science fiction will be discussed to determine which of them is more appropriate to this novel, considering that it lacks some of the main characteristics of dystopian fiction, that is the subgenre in which it is normally included. Then, the clones’ figure will be analysed: their humanness, how and why they are created, why they accept their destiny and the objectification they suffer from society. Furthermore, the racial analogue of the clones will be discussed. Also, Hailsham will be analysed, the aim behind its creation and the reason why it failed. As a conclusion, the most outstanding ideas of the novel explained in the different sections will be summarised.
