LA INTERVENCIÓN ASISTIDA CON CONEJOS Y COBAYAS : UNA REVISIÓN SISTEMÁTICA

Abstract

[ES] N La finalidad de esta revisión sistemática es descubrir si las intervenciones asistidas con conejos y cobayas son efectivas, y si podrían llegar a usarse con más frecuencia porque, en algunos casos estos animales podrían presentar ventajas frente a otros animales de mayor tamaño. Esta revisión sistemática tiene como objetivo averiguar qué se ha investigado acerca de las intervenciones asistidas con conejos y cobayas, con qué tipo de población se están llevando a cabo y cuáles son sus efectos en estos. Se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica en las principales bases de datos científicas y tras aplicar unos criterios de admisión y exclusión se procedió a revisar 6 artículos. Los resultados obtenidos en cuanto a población fueron que este tipo de intervenciones se ha usado tanto para niños con TEA como para ancianos, pacientes con daño cerebral adquirido y pacientes de la unidad de cuidados paliativos. Los efectos de este tipo de intervenciones han variado dependiendo del tipo de muestra, por ejemplo, se observó mejora de las habilidades sociales en los niños con TEA que participaron en estas intervenciones y en ancianos, observándose también en ancianos disminución del estrés y fomento de la reminiscencia, resaltando momentos felices de su juventud. Se vio mejoría en la capacidad de memoria en pacientes con daño cerebral adquirido y mejora del estado de ánimo en el caso de los pacientes de la unidad de cuidados paliativos.

[EN] The purpose of this systematic review is to find out whether rabbit and guinea pig assisted interventions are effective, and whether they could be used more frequently because, in some cases, these animals may have advantages over larger animals. This systematic review aims to find out what research has been done on rabbit and guinea pig assisted interventions, what type of population they are being used with, and what their effects are on rabbits and guinea pigs. A bibliographic search was carried out in the main scientific databases and, after applying certain admission and exclusion criteria, 6 articles were reviewed. The results obtained in terms of population were that this type of intervention has been used for children with ASD as well as for the elderly, patients with acquired brain damage and palliative care unit patients. The effects of this type of interventions have varied depending on the type of sample, for example, improvement in social skills was observed in children with ASD who participated in these interventions and in the elderly, also observed in the elderly decrease in stress and promotion of reminiscence, highlighting happy moments of their youth. Improved memory capacity was seen in patients with acquired brain damage and improved mood in the case of patients in the palliative care unit.
