(EN) The house is one of the essential spaces in the existence of the human being. Its historical analysis forces us to overlap the material and immaterial aspects that have sheltered and intertwined the lives of families, lineages and communities. This thesis intends to give shape to a comparative analysis in which the characteristics of different cultures and civilizations are exposed in relation to the structure of the house and three of its elements: the place of the hearth, the location of the pantry and the presence or absence of a particular place of worship. These data, contrasted with the climate and resources obtaining system, and understanding that the human being solves similar problems, in a similar way, will give an indication of whether housing constructions can really be indicative of "lack of development" or of an adaptation to the terrain and therefore to their needs
