emocionales.
(EN) This study is the first step of an experimental line that aims to examine the dog presence effect on the sense of safety in emotional contexts. We aimed to create a library of threatening/safe urban public spaces following the same procedure as in the International Affective Picture System (IAPS). 105 participants (63 women) assessed threatening/safe original urban contexts, along with affective and neutral images from the IAPS, in valence, arousal, dominance (through the Self Assessment Manikin; SAM), and the sense of safety. IAPS images showed the typical pattern in SAM scales. While safe contexts were assessed as pleasurable and moderately activating, threatening contexts were assessed as pleasurable and activating. Men (vs. women) scored greater in valence, dominance, and safety when viewing unpleasant and threatening contexts. We conclude that the urban scene ratings are valid and reliable due to their ability to provoke positive and negative emotional reactions in participants.
