Introduction: We are currently facing a problem of population aging, which is due to the increase in age expectancy and low birth rate. Aging entails biological changes (sensory and organ systems), social and psychological changes, however this should not be a cause of discrimination of the population. We are seeing a growing increase in ageism, a type of age discrimination present in society and the healthcare system, in which three concepts are interrelated: stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination. Objectives: To establish whether physicians and nurses working in the Health Centers of the Jaén Sur Health District have negative stereotypes towards the elderly. Methodology: A quantitative research approach has been designed, through a cross-sectional descriptive study carried out with physicians and nurses working in the Health Centers of the Jaén Sur Health District. The Evaluation Questionnaire of Negative Stereotypes towards Old Age (CENVE) has been used to carry out this research. The extension of this study will be 6 months throughout the year 2023. Independent variable: Participants' sex, age, profession (medicine or nursing) and years of work experience. Dependent variable: Negative stereotypes towards the elderly.
