SESGO DE CONFIRMACIÓN. Revisión Bibliográfica

Abstract

Los sesgos cognitivos son efectos psicológicos que causan alteración en el procesamiento de la información captada por nuestros sentidos, lo que genera una distorsión, juicio errado, interpretación incoherente o ilógica de la información de que disponemos. El presente trabajo trata el sesgo de confirmación, que es un tipo de sesgo cognitivo en el que tendemos a buscar la información que confirma nuestras preconcepciones. Dada la importancia y la repercusión que estos sesgos (en concreto el sesgo de confirmación) tienen a la hora de tomar decisiones, formar ideas, confirmar hipótesis, y en general, analizar la realidad, se realiza a continuación un recorrido sobre el estudio y las teorías asociadas a dicho sesgo y se analiza como éste afecta a diferentes ámbitos como la ciencia, la política y la ley.

The cognitive biases are psychological effects that cause alteration in the information captured by our senses, this generate distortion, wrong judgment, incoherent or illogical interpretation of the information we have available. In this working session, it is covered confirmation bias; this is a type of cognitive bias which we tend to try to find information to confirm our preconceptions. Given the importance and the impact of these biases (specially confirmation bias) have in the decision making process, building thoughts, confirm hypothesis and, in general, to analyze reality, we go through the study and the theories associated to this bias and we analyze how this affect different areas such as science, politics and legislation.
