“EL CUPLÉ EN MANUEL FONT Y DE ANTA: INVESTIGACIÓN Y ANÁLISIS DE UNA LITERATURA PARA LA MODERNIDAD”

Abstract

[ES] El objeto del presente trabajo es la investigación y análisis de algunas letras que conformaron el cuplé en la producción de Manuel Font y de Anta (1889-1936), compositor sevillano afincado en Madrid que sobresalió por la cantidad y calidad de su aportación al género. En el mismo se atiende también a la contextualización de este tipo de canción comercial que formó parte del espectáculo de variedades (café, teatro, salón, cabaret) entre 1900 y 1936, y que fue más que un género artístico. Sus números recogieron convenciones, sentimentalismos o actualidades de una época y contribuyeron a divertir y alienar a un nuevo público.

[EN] The aim of this work is the research and analysis of some lyrics that shaped cuplé in Manuel Font y de Anta's work, a Sevillian composer (1889-1936) settled in Madrid who stood out because of the amount and high-quality of his contribution to this musical genre. Putting into context this kind of commercial song, that was part of the variety performances (café, theatre, show, cabaret) between 1900 and 1936 and was much more than just an artistic genre, is also provided here. His pieces of music collected standards, emotionalism and popularity of a time and helped to entertain and influence a new public.
