How to develop and implement a School Language Project (SLP) in a mediterranean Marist school in Andalusia. Previous steps for a subsequent Integrated Language Curriculum (ILC) and a final proposal of a School Bilingual Project (SBP)

Abstract

Después de varios años estudiando cómo mejorar el nivel de inglés en la Educación Primaria como profesores de lengua extranjera en escuelas maristas, nuestro equipo de coordinadores bilingües cree que es necesario dedicar más tiempo y esfuerzo al Aprendizaje Integrado de Contenidos y Lenguas Extranjeras (AICLE), como método para mejorar la comprensión y el razonamiento desde la lengua materna (L1) al inglés (L2), con el apoyo adecuado para atender la diversidad de nuestros alumnos. Por esta razón, me gustaría realizar una investigación para mi Trabajo Fin de Máster, donde el objetivo principal sea investigar cómo poner en práctica un Proyecto Lingüístico de Centro (PLC) real para fortalecer la Competencia en Comunicación Lingüística (CCL) en mi escuela local en Huelva. Para lograr esto, mi propuesta es realizar una encuesta diagnóstica inicial a los profesores, estudiantes y familias sobre la necesidad de este proyecto y su implementación en primer lugar, para continuar en el futuro con otros proyectos relacionados, como un Currículo Integrado de Lenguas (CIL) e, idealmente, un Proyecto de Enseñanza Bilingüe final.

After some years studying how to level up of English in Primary Education as Foreign Language teachers in Marist schools, our team of bilingual coordinators believe that it is necessary to dedicate more time and effort to CLIL, as a method to improve comprehension and reasoning from mother tongue (L1) to English (L2) with adequate scaffolding to attend our student’s diversity. For this reason, I would like to do a research-oriented MA dissertation, where the main objective is to investigate how to put into practice a real School Language Project (SLP) to reinforce Linguistic Communication Competence (LCC) in my local school in Huelva. To achieve this, my proposal is to make an initial diagnostic surveying teachers, students, and families about the necessity of this project and its implementation firstly, to continue in the future with others related, such as Integrated Language Curriculum and ideally a final Bilingual Teaching Project.
