idiomas.
This Master’s thesis addresses the concepts of culture and interculturality. It looks into the degree of inclusion of cultural aspects as well as interculturality in EFL in the Spanish education system and the views on the matter held by educators and students. A total of 68 teachers and 110 pupils participated in the study, which consisted in the completion of a comprehensive questionnaire. The results obtained from the surveys were analyzed following qualitative and quantitative methods. The data collected in the study and its analysis revealed that culture and interculturality are not always two crucial aspects in EFL. Most respondents understand the valuable role these play in education and how their implementation would potentially lead to bringing up more open-minded and tolerant individuals, but it is still believed that culture teaching must give way to language teaching.
