It is currently well established that one the characteristics of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is the exaggerated shock in response to threatening stimuli or stimuli that have become threatening as a result of a traumatic experience. It is considered one of the most efficient biomarkers for the diagnosis of PTSD and has been used in research on this disorder. Furthermore, Prepulse Inhibition (PPI) has been used as a method wherein a stimuli of lower intensity is presented to discover whether the shock was reduced in individuals with PTSD. This dissertation/project is a bibliographic review of articles that have employed the PPI as a indicator of study in people with PTSD and the results and conclusions that they draw.
