El trastorno disfórico premenstrual es un nuevo trastorno de diagnóstico del DSM-5 que se
encuentra dentro de la categoría de los trastornos depresivos. Se caracteriza por presentar síntomas
la semana previa a la menstruación, mantener esos síntomas durante la misma y desaparecer la
semana posterior a la menstruación. Estos síntomas son: irritabilidad intensa, ansiedad, dificultad
en la concentración, cambio importante del apetito, entre otros. Se presenta el caso clínico de una
mujer de 25 años que ha tenido varios episodios de atracones en el pasado pero que actualmente,
tiene atracones de comida y sobrealimentación en los períodos de la menstruación. Asimismo,
presenta otros síntomas como irritabilidad, ansiedad, falta de energía y dolores mamarios y
musculares. Para decidir el diagnóstico se realizaron tres entrevistas semiestructuradas y pruebas
complementarias. La intervención se divide en psicoeducación, entrenamiento en relajación y
estilos de vida saludables.
