Mitología clásica en la colección de emblemas de Gabriel Rollenhagen y Crispijn De Passe (1611-1613)

Abstract

[ES]La mitología ha sido un recurso inagotable y muy utilizado a lo largo de la historia tanto en el arte como en la literatura.Nuestro objetivo con este TFM es estudiar la mitología en la colección de doscientos emblemas de Gabriel Rollenhagen y Crispijn De Passe publicada en dos volúmenes: Nucleus Emblematum Selectissimorum (Arnhem, 1611) y Selectorum Emblematum Centuria Secunda (Arnheim, 1613). Dos son los objetivos del TFM: analizar en dichas colecciones de emblemas las ilustraciones que contienen un significado mitológico y, por otro lado, interpretar tales mitos descifrando su mensaje. También presentamos una breve introducción de la historia de la emblemática, especialmente en época del Renacimiento y Barroco.

[EN]Mithology has been an inexhaustible resource and has been widely used throughout history in both art and literature. Our aim with this TFM is to study mithology in the collection of two emblems of Gabriel Rollenhagen and Crispijn De Passe published in two volumes: Nucleus Emblematum Selectissimorum (Arnhem, 1611) and Selectorum Emblematum Centuria Secunda (Arnheim, 1613). Two are the objectives of the TFM: to analyze in these collections of emblems the illustrations that contain a mithological meaning and, on the other, to interpret these myths by deciphering their message. We also present a brief introduction of the history of the emblematic, especially in the time of the Renaissance and the Baroque.
