I carried out a literature review in single case studies on how Acceptance and Commitment Therapy influences illegal drug users, and we found that thanks to this therapy, experiential avoidance of negative private events disappears, making this person increase their psychological flexibility, abandon the use of illicit substances and steer their life in a better direction. In addition, in order to complete the dissertation in a more creative way, and to give it a police perspective as well as a therapeutic one, I carried out a small field study in which I was informed of certain operational plans that have been implemented for years, which are effective in combating drug use and helping to prevent addiction.
