[EN]This dissertation examines the usefulness of comicbooks in the EFL classroom as an invaluable source of language learning and leisure literature. To demonstrate their validity, a language-driven content-based lesson plan has been devised for a hypothetical C2 Advanced English course in an Official Language School in Andalusia. The content to be used consists of a rich variety of Golden and Silver Age Marvel comicbooks written by Stan Lee, showcasing the transition between these two periods. To do so, first, an overview of the history of superhero comicbooks will be outlined; second, the defense of comicbooks as literature will be put forward, supplemented by EFL learning experiences with comics; and, third, three content-plus-language approaches (EMI, CLIL, CBI) will be scrutinized for use in Andalusian Official Language Schools. Finally, a didactic proposal based upon this theoretical framework will exploit the potential of comics as both intensive and extensive EFL reading resources.
