Trabajo Social y Violencia Obstétrica: Visibilizando lo Invisible

Abstract

En muchos espacios la disciplina del trabajo social está invisibilizada y la violencia obstétrica también, por ello, en este Trabajo de Fin de Grado queremos visibilizar y poner en contexto estos conceptos y en especial la relación de ambos. Los/as trabajadores/as sociales son importantes para visibilizar, sensibilizar, prevenir, tomar conciencia y empoderar. Las mujeres dentro del propio sistema sanitario, en ocasiones, son protagonistas de violencia machista durante su proceso de gestación mediante comentarios inoportunos, intervenciones innecesarias y evitables. Hemos investigado mediante dos encuestas esta problemática. En primer lugar, a mujeres, madres de edades, ideología, religión y/o estatus socioeconómico diferentes, las cuales han tenido a sus hijos/as en hospitales de sanidad pública y privada. Por otro lado, hemos realizado otra encuesta a personal sanitario. Los análisis de los datos muestran las carencias en relación con la formación de la Violencia Obstétrica por parte del personal sanitario. Por otro lado, las mujeres normalizan las intervenciones y la falta de información que reciben por parte del equipo sanitario

In many areas, the discipline of social work and the obstetric violence are invisible. For this reason, in this project we want to make visible and put into context both concepts, especially in their relationship between them. Social workers are important to make visible, sensitize, raise awareness, prevent, become aware and empower this situation. Women within the health system itself are sometimes protagonists of sexist violence during their pregnancy process through inappropriate comments, unnecessary and avoidable intervetions. We have investigated this problem by means of two surveys. First of all, to women, mothers of different ages, ideology, religion and/or socioeconomic status, who have had their children in public and private health care hospitals. On the other hand, we have carried out another survey of health personnel. The analysis of the data shows the shortcomings in relation to the formation of health personnel on Obstetric Violence. Furthermore, women normalize the intervencions and the lack of information that they receive from the health team
