Collocations -combinations of two or more words- comprise a linguistic phenomenon present in a great number of languages. This area demands special consideration by English teachers, as students often face difficulties when it comes to reproducing correct word patterns in the target language. This study provides a brief analysis on the term of collocation making reference to previous studies upon this matter. It also enumerates the reasons that justify the teaching of collocations in the EFL classroom, as well as the most suitable methodology to do so. Besides, a didactic sequence has been drawn up, addressed to EFL students at a specific competence level. This didactic sequence is based on activities that include a specific selection of collocations: those who take the term time as their base. From the results of this study, certain implications can be inferred in the teaching and learning of collocations in the EFL classroom.
